And for the record, having gone to school with many blind people (highschool), and having worked professionally with a 100% blind person, I can tell you that MOST of the time, they do stare more or less aimlessly into space. In conversation, they usually look off to the side of the person they're talking to because they can hear better that way and have absolutely no reason to look you right in the face.
