I hope this isn't seen as too annoying, but I've recently become interested in trying out Second Life. I created an account, and went through the process of making a basic character, but I can't seem to find out how one makes a furry avatar. It is something you apply to an existing avatar, like an article of clothing, or is there some other process?

Oh and to the above poster, essentially you need linden which is the currency to buy a base avatar. Now, base avatars are great to use for modding or custom work like mine but starting out on their own it's fine until you have a certain look your aiming for.

To the above poster. There is 3 main parts to an avatar. Attached parts like the head, hands, paws, etc. Then there are skins which is the overlying detail of the AV followed by the shape which tweaks your body features.

when you buy an avatar typically you go into an area where you place the boxed object you bought from your inventory onto the ground open it then take the objects inside.

Once that happens you can just right click the new folder in your inventory and attach and wear all the pieces thus loading the avatar onto yourself.

I actually got a different Skin I really enjoy now today. After some modding to my textures and tweaking my tailhole a little these two pictures are the result. Enjoy.

the tail seems high, too. move them both down a little, and you'll be fine.
with anthros, i generally consider the tail to be branching off of where the human tail bone would be.

I spoke to another friend of mine about this. We both looked at a few backside pictures of artist renditions in furry drawings and saw both tail and tail hole in the same position mine are in.

He said something similar to both of you but then again we both agreed it comes down to a matter of perception.

I'll also post a couple pictures later on. Got some nipple and belly button piercings and a back tattoo ; D

Also, I'm in the process of going through the very difficult task of redoing the texture on the horse head to match my new skin. The new skins have different shades so it's a little difficult to match. Hopefully it will come out right though ; D
